Spring Cleaning Overload
Filed Under Blog | Leave a Comment
I started the day REALLY motivated to do some long overdue deep cleaning in the apartment. Two hours and three dumped-upside down rooms later and I’m sitting on the bed in a daze feeling totally overwhelmed.
At least I completed getting all the window ledges dusted.
One of the other (many) house projects I started today was getting out some of the art I’ve purchased that has been sitting in it’s packaging for several years because I’ve never bought frames for it all. Everything is getting measured and I’m making a list of sizes so I can keep an eye out at thrift stores and such and finally get them on the walls.
A few pieces I still love (and are still sitting in their packaging) are these paintings from Lynette May.

P.S. I can’t believe it’s already been a week since our [7] dinner with Janessa, Brook, Tisse, and Anna! We made vegetable panang curry and coconut sticky rice with mango (recipe post for that coming VERY soon). Here are a few photos of the lovely ladies:

We started redecorating and rearranging our apartment yesterday. We don’t really have a dining area but I’m finally creating a little spot where we can sit and eat our meals (once we get chairs, that is).
I have an antique gate-leg table pushed against the wall now and there is a giant bare spot above it that desperately needs filled with something pretty. While taking a break from moving the furniture and vaccuming monstrous dust bunnies I sat down and had the idea to make my own poster to hang on the wall.

Nikola Tesla, born 1856. The man that made our techie world possible. Sure he once called a pigeon his wife, had a fear of pearl earrings, and claimed to talk to Mars, but he’s still one of the most important contributors to the birth of commercial electricity, invented alternating current electric power systems, wireless power transmission, the AC Motor, radio, x-ray, and contributed to the establishment of robotics, remote control, radar, and computer science.
My husband and I have a mutual love for anything related to science, antiques, or steampunk so a Nikola Tesla art piece seemed fitting for our place. I’m quite pleased with how it turned out!
I have a 10×15 print and a 16×24 print in my etsy shop (http://meganlee.etsy.com) and if there’s any interest I may just make a series for other inventors/inventions…or maybe I’ll just make them for my own wall whether others like it or not :)

Coco, Steampunkness, & the adorableness of Addison
Filed Under Blog | 4 Comments
1. Last night I made a little homage to Conan and his pompadour. (feel free to share! Just please leave my watermark at the bottom :) )

2. I’m currently obsessing over every facet of Steampunk design. If you don’t know what steampunk means, go here, learn, and love: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steampunk
One of my new favorite websites is The Steampunk Home and I am coveting so many things from there!
Also would like all of this:
3. My niece, Addison, is staying at my parents house for a few days. I’m over visiting with her this afternoon and so far she has
1. Given herself a timeout for being “whiney and mean”
2. Put herself down for a nap
3. Proclaimed the musty blankets to smell “like grown ups”.
Then “Poppies” came home from work to eat lunch. As soon as he walked in though, Addison took his hand, led him to the other room and made it “play with the dollhouse” time.

And have I mentioned the faces?

This is her “Megan, can we play with the dollhouse now?” face.

And this is Addison, just being Addison.
